The white shirt and vest are connected (one-piece) and are a thin, see-through material so I would definitely recommend wearing a black/white shirt underneath. The belt secures with a velcro strip in the back. The pants are a smooth, thin material with very stretchy elastic to accommodate different sized waists/legs. You could wear thin sweatpants underneath. The boots and hat are made of the same material; it feels like a thin foam and it wrinkles easily (ours came pretty smushed up in the package). The boot covers go over shoes and stay on the leg with elastic around the top. They have a strip of elastic that goes under the shoe to keep the boots from riding up. It feels cheap but it looks super cute all put together and is great for a Halloween costume worn for a few occasions.

Boy High Seas Buccaneer Toddler Halloween Costume
This was a great pirate costume. I have seen many for purchase but to me this was the cutest one. The little red bandanna really made the whole outfit. I had to buy this oneline because by October 2nd they didn't have this costume left in any of the stores in my son's size. My son really loved being a pirate this year! The only downside to this costume is that it is made of a very thin material and you have to be careful when putting the shirt on etc as it doesn't have much give. The seam in the armpit ripped a bit.
Cute - size runs small
The 3T-4T fits my average-sized 2 and half year old perfectly (he's 35inches tall and 29 or 30lbs). It seems like it's made just well enough to get through one Halloween - BUT it is REALLY cute : I like it...if only I could convince my son that he likes it, too...
